With two little girls and a fifty-pound dog, we can almost always use a carpet cleaning. On any given day, there is mud, paint, markers, chalk, milk and cheerios (among other things!) on all of our floor surfaces. Recently, I was fortunate enough to have Chem-Dry of Brentwood come clean our playroom carpets—by far the worst of the rooms in the house and long overdue a thorough carpet cleaning. From scheduling my appointment to the end result of a spotlessly clean carpet, I could not have been more pleased.

The main cleaning solution used by Chem-Dry is certified green by I.T.C. labs. The ‘chem’ in their name stands for ‘Chemistry’ NOT chemicals! This solution works to generate natural CO2 to produce millions of effervescent bubbles—which dissolve dirt and raise it to the surface for extraction from the carpet. This process is totally safe for children and pets. As my kids are 3 and 1, this was very important to me. Our playroom floor plays host to hours of games for both my children and the children of friends. The last thing I want is for anyone’s kids to be rolling around on a carpet laden with toxic chemicals. Many companies use too much water which can lead to issues with mold and bacteria. Chem-Dry of Brentwood uses just enough water to get your carpets clean—but little enough that your floors will be dry within 2-3 hours of completion!

I cannot reiterate enough that my experience with the company was wonderful from beginning to end. The lady with whom I initially spoke on the phone was professional, courteous, and flexible with my schedule. My appointment was for a 2pm – 4pm window which I don’t consider an overly long stretch to be waiting around. My technician, Josh, finished his prior appointment early, called to ensure I was home, and arrived at 12:55. He was extremely efficient while he cleaned our playroom, hallway, and stairs. The entire process took just twenty-five minutes. While our carpets were damp upon completion of cleaning (as expected), within three hours they were totally dry and looked absolutely wonderful. It was by far the best carpet cleaning experience I’ve ever had.

When I moved to Nashville when I was 11, I never knew how deep my roots would run here! I attended Belmont University (Go Bruins!) where I met my husband David. We were married in 2008, and 4 months later, he was off to Iraq for a year. A couple of years after he returned home, we had our first daughter, Madeline, who is a lively redhead that keeps us on our toes! Any and all rumors you've ever heard about the nature of redheads are in fact true. Our second little girl, Violet, was born in July of this year and is the sweetest little addition. Before having children, I worked as a pediatric nurse for 7 years, and last year worked at two Williamson County high schools as a Health Science teacher. I will once again be staying home with the birth of our second daughter. I am new to the world of blogging, but look forward to the experience of getting to share stories, tips and advice with other local moms!
