Tenacity Performing Arts Dancer Little Girl

At Tenacity, you get more than just a weekly dance class. Here, students learn more than steps. We treat our studio like a school—assessing everything from work ethic and confidence to technical skills and flexibility. Here students have a safe environment to freely express themselves through performance art.

Every student is an artist. Every student brings a unique personality and ability to the collective group. Through guidance, encouragement, and regular assessments, we lead them on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth!

Conveniently located in the heart of Brentwood, TN (next door to Chick Fil A in a shared suite with Yong In Martial Arts), Tenacity offers several class tracks to appeal to every type of student. We offer a  weekday Home School Track for students who need to meet arts enrichment requirements for school and also for home schooled students who simply want to train. For students in traditional school, we offer a Recreational No Recital Track, a Recreational Recital Track, and a Competition/Performance Track for the more serious dancer.

We serve students ages 18 months and up (with class offerings for adults as well!) and offer classes in all genres of dance.  One of our toddler favorites is Mom & Me Baby Ballet—a creative spin on a pre-school mixed dance class that uses imagination, fun games, and sing-a-long songs to encourage creative thinking and  development of both fine and gross motor skills.  The best part? Parents are encouraged to participate in the class with their child.

Other class offerings include:

·       Twist & Twirl Mixed Classes for ages 3 to 5—including ballet, tap, and jazz

·       Tumble & Twirl Mixed Classes for ages 3 to 5—including ballet and basic tumbling

·       Ballet – ages 6 to teen in all levels

·       Jazz – ages 6 to teen in all levels

·       Hip Hop – ages 6 to teen in all levels

Since we’re new to the neighborhood, we wanted to extend a free “try it” class to the Nashville Moms Blog readers. This is a great way to let students try us out to make sure the studio is a good fit before committing to a full program. For those who do decide to enroll, we also want to extend a special thank you for your business by discounting our registration fee by 50% to $10 per family! Just mention Nashville Moms Blog when you call or email.

About Our Owners

Jessica McPherson – Director of Ballet & Curriculum

Jessie knew teaching dance was what she wanted to do at a very early age. She was always choreographing for her friends’ creative neighborhood productions.
Jessie began dancing at Touch Of Class dance studios in Philadelphia, and became hooked on ballet. She then trained with the Shirley Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet under Gloria Govern. At 13 years old, Jessie began intense training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet where she spent seven years studying the Vaganova Syllabus under John White and Maragrita de Saa’.
Jessie has danced professionally with Opus 1 Contemporary and The Nashville Ballet as well as guested with other ballet companies in Illinois and Los Angeles.
Throughout her professional career, she has always taught dance. She has taught all over the Philadelphia, LA, and Nashville areas. Jessie loves to be able to pass on her passion and knowledge for the art of ballet. Watching children become inspired and grow as dancers is an amazing gift that she feels lucky to experience.

Danika Miles – Director of Programs & Operations

Danika was fortunate to grow up at Tammy Jo’s Studio in Greenup, KY, studying ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance under the direction of Tammy Edge and Leah Copley.
She became a competitive dancer at the age of 13 and two years later joined the pre-professional River Cities Dance Company.  There, she also trained under Jerry Rose, Director of the Beckley Dance Theatre, and many other master teachers including Suzy Miller and Stepp Stewart. Danika also trained at West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts summer program for four years.
Professionally, she has danced in theme parks, music videos, commercials, and dance companies. She is a founding member and continues to dance with one of Nashville’s only contemporary dance companies, Found Movement Group—under the direction of Stacie Flood-Popp. She has also danced as an Associate Artist with modern dance company, Core Project Chicago, under the direction of Erin Rehberg.
Danika has taught at studios and universities throughout South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. She feels blessed to have trained under some of the best teachers working in the field and appreciates the opportunity to share that knowledge with her students. Shaping a young dancer, watching them blossom into an artist and find their artistic voice is an amazing experience. She feels lucky to be part of their journey.
