Camp Widjiwagan — Another Legendary Summer {Giveaway!}

CampWidji Summer NashvilleMomsBlog

Camp Widjiwagan is located on 320 beautiful acres on Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, TN. The Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center and YMCA Camp Widjiwagan are owned and operated by the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. The goal of Camp Widjiwagan, affectionately known as “Widji,” is to provide a safe, fun, magical, and educational experience for all guests and children who come to Camp or the Outdoor Center. Each day, they diligently work to demonstrate the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility while practicing a “Kids and Guests First” philosophy.

YMCA Camp Widjiwagan is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. Developed exclusively for camps, this nationally recognized association focuses on program quality, and health & safety issues. ACA requires a review of every facet of the camp’s operation. Widji has voluntarily submitted to this independent appraisal done by camp experts and has earned its mark of distinction.

As a family, we have several years of experience with Camp Widji under our belt, and our older boy could not love his time there more! From all kinds of water activities (banana boats, the “wet willie” water slide, swimming, and canoeing) to archery to horseback riding to a variety of sports play, Camp Widjiwagan has something for every kid’s interest. He has come home with wild and fun stories and singing new camp songs with gusto—especially those touting his Nation of the Summer.

We’re excited to check out a bunch of the new things that are being offered this Summer as well. There are Specialty Day Camps, Widji Explorers, Farm Camps, Junior & Teen Camps, Ranch Camps, Fully Themed Resident Camps, and—for the older teens—Counselor in Training sessions! If getting to the camp site is a problem, Camp Widji has that covered too. There are various bus sites around town for drop off and pick up; there’s sure to be one near you.
