We hope this series inspires you to spend a little quality time with your partner in our fair city. There are so many fantastic different places and wonderful different ways to make your night a special one. We’re going to explore a few over the next few weeks and share our experiences with you! (For more date night ideas, check out more of our series!)

I am not a “girly” girl. While I like looking nice, I’m not a slave to being photoshoot ready. I’m a jeans, t-shirt, and Converse kind of girl. Happily, my husband prefers t-shirts over ties as well. That being said, for us, date night isn’t often about getting fancy and going expensive.  My husband enjoys food. Any food, really, but especially burgers. This in particular has started us on our epic Date Night quest: to find the best burger in Nashville.

The cool thing about a “Burger Date Night” is that it’s no big deal to take our daughter with us as burger places are usually family-friendly.  There are a LOT of  burgers to be found in Nashville. Just a quick trip to Google provides quite a hefty list:  Burger Up, M.L. Rose – Craft Beer & Burgers (which is a double whammy for my husband, who loves a good beer as much as a good burger), Gabby’s Burger & Fries, Burger Republic…the list goes on and on! Since we don’t have to dress up, burger dates are great for spur of the moment plans too. We have literally gotten dressed, hopped in the car, and picked a place in less than twenty minutes. It brings back that “before kids” spontaneity (well, almost). Also, none of these burger places are terribly expensive, so we get to have a great night together without feeling food-guilty the next day.

So far, we’ve tried quite a few, and our current favorite burgers in Nashville are at The Pharmacy.

The Pharmacy is a hole in the wall in East Nashville. There’s going to be a wait if you go for dinner (especially on the weekends); but, to us, it is SO worth it. Enjoy the wait by chatting with your partner (bonus points if you’re able to talk about something other than the kids or work)! You absolutely cannot (I repeat—CANNOT) leave without trying one of their phosphates. My favorite is the Pharmacy Cream Soda. YUM! The burger offerings are also phenomenal. The Farm Burger has been my husband’s favorite with apple-wood smoked bacon, an over-easy egg, country ham, and all sorts of other deliciousness. My preference is the Stroganoff Burger (yes, picture all the goodness of beef stroganoff poured over an amazing burger patty and slipped between homemade burger buns)! Incidentally, they have a pretty spectacular beer list to boot.

The Pharmacy was so good the first time that we’ve opted to go back rather than trying out other places on several occasions. So…at the rate we’re going, I see LOTS more burgers in our future, and I’m ok with that. It means lots more date nights with my love!

Amy
Amy is a Northernor by birth, but please don’t hold it against her! Amy has called Middle Tennessee home for over twenty years and couldn’t picture raising a family anywhere else! Today, Amy lives just outside of Nashville with her husband of over seven years (JP), her four year old spitfire of a daughter (Lily), and their eleven-year-old-but-still-acts-like-a-puppy black lab (Alley). It’s a daily toss up as to who rules their house—Lily or the dog—and Amy has many funny stories to prove the battles. Amy is a working mama by day—a fraud and suspicious activities investigator at a local, community bank, and a jack-of-all-trades by night and weekend. She loves crafts, music, the outdoors, saving money and bargain hunting, gardening (and all the canning, freezing, and preserving that comes with it), comic books, and anything upcycled, recycled, or DIY, and she’s just crunchy enough to call herself a hippie. She can often be found perusing yard sales, flea markets, Pinterest, and Etsy, looking for her next big project, or playing superheroes, painting, or playing outside with Lily. Currently, Amy and her husband are on a quest to find the best burger in Nashville and love visiting all the fantastic foodie spots this great city has to offer!
