Juicing with Kids

A couple of months ago, my husband and I hopped on the juicing bandwagon and have loved every minute of it. Not only do we feel better every morning when we juice, it gives us special time with our kids to chat, work together, and teach them the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Our 5 and 2-year-old love helping to pick out the fruit and vegetables in the grocery store. They enjoy helping to clean them and get them ready to juice. Our 2-year-old loves putting the fruit in and watching it fly out because the 5 year old can’t get the lid on fast enough. It’s fun for the whole family.

I really didn’t know much about juicing when I got started. I kind of just jumped in and started making things for us. Since then, I’ve found a few great recipes on Pinterest and added them to my arsenal or modified them to our own tastes.

A few tips that I’ve picked up along the way:

  • Juice greens first and follow them with citrus or something with a high water content (cucumbers, celery) so that it can flush out the rest of the greens that get stuck in the juicer.
  • You can increase the fiber content by blending the pulp and combining it with your juice for an extra healthy boost.
  • Colorful and fun straws and cups always help the juice go down more smoothly!juicing with kids 4

Adult Version – If you are looking to step up the nutrients, add kale. My hubby and I do this, and it’s become one of our go to juices.
