Labor Day Weekend is often considered the “last hurrah” of Summer. It’s still warm and sunny, and it’s the last long weekend before we are well into Fall. Nashville is a fantastic place to be when you’re looking for a celebration because this city has so much to offer! If you want to say Sayonara to Summer in style, here’s a round-up of everything going on in Music City for Labor Day Weekend! These events are in addition to all the other awesomeness Nashville regularly offers up on the weekends. Check it out:

2nd Annual Inter-‘Nash’-ional Food Crawl
August 30 starting at noon at Casa Azafrán on Nolensville Pike. Foodies can experience a two-mile food crawl through Nashville’s most ethnically diverse area. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased at Casa Azafrán.

3rd Annual Nashville Street Food Awards
August 30 from 11 am – 5pm at the Nashville Farmers Market. Check out a friendly competition between more than thirty Nashville food truck vendors. All participating food trucks will have their specialties on sale to the public, and the event itself is free. There will be food, live music, Farmers Market vendors, and more! Check out www.nashvillefarmersmarket.org for more details.

Six One Live Festival
August 30, starting at 1 pm at Dan McGuinness Pub – $40 per ticket gets you admitted to the best live Music Nashville has to offer.  All the artists playing are homegrown! This is one you will want to check out if you’re without kids.

Nashville Zzzoofari Slumber
August 30 at 4:00 pm at the Nashville Zoo. Recommended for ages 4-12 (along with accompanying adults), this is a unique chance to camp out under the stars at the zoo! Hay rides, crafts, animal shoes, and a marshmallow roast are just a few things included in the $40 ticket price.

Metro Parks Big Band Dance
August 30 at 7 pm at the Centennial Park event shelter. After the food crawl, head on over to Centennial Park and enjoy Big Band style music. While you’re at it, participate in one of two free dance lessons!

Fireworks at Nashville Shores
August 31 at dusk (approximately 8:30 pm). Spend the day at the water park, but don’t leave before the fireworks! Admission to the show is included for all season pass holders and anyone who pays admission on August 31. (You can find a special, discounted price on-line only!)

Margaret Maddox YMCA Pool Party
September 1 from 11 am – 2 pm. If you’re a YMCA member, this is a great way to get in one last day at the pool. (Although we’ve heard a rumor that some Y locations are planning to stay open for weekends in September, we don’t yet have confirmation on that.) Get over to the Maryland Farms location and enjoy food (Papa Murphy’s Pizza), music, games, and more! Your kids will love the slide, splash pad, and playground. You will love the many large umbrellas and abundant seating!

All of this going on in one weekend?! No wonder we need that extra day off on Monday!

Amy
Amy is a Northernor by birth, but please don’t hold it against her! Amy has called Middle Tennessee home for over twenty years and couldn’t picture raising a family anywhere else! Today, Amy lives just outside of Nashville with her husband of over seven years (JP), her four year old spitfire of a daughter (Lily), and their eleven-year-old-but-still-acts-like-a-puppy black lab (Alley). It’s a daily toss up as to who rules their house—Lily or the dog—and Amy has many funny stories to prove the battles. Amy is a working mama by day—a fraud and suspicious activities investigator at a local, community bank, and a jack-of-all-trades by night and weekend. She loves crafts, music, the outdoors, saving money and bargain hunting, gardening (and all the canning, freezing, and preserving that comes with it), comic books, and anything upcycled, recycled, or DIY, and she’s just crunchy enough to call herself a hippie. She can often be found perusing yard sales, flea markets, Pinterest, and Etsy, looking for her next big project, or playing superheroes, painting, or playing outside with Lily. Currently, Amy and her husband are on a quest to find the best burger in Nashville and love visiting all the fantastic foodie spots this great city has to offer!
