Listen to this! My Favorite Podcasts on Motherhood

Lately, I’ve just been addicted to podcasts. Don’t get me wrong—I enjoy listening to music, and audiobooks save my sanity on my Nashville commute of doom. But sometimes, neither of those options hit the sweet spot, so it’s fun to have another option queued on my phone to get me through traffic, my run, or the dishes. While there are podcasts out there about almost every subject (including some you can listen to with your kiddos!), today I wanted to share a few of my favorites on the subject of motherhood. Listening to motherhood-related podcasts encourages me in the journey, and I hope it’ll do the same for you!Favorite podcasts for motherhood

Risen Motherhood

Description

A weekly podcast for moms. A space to remember we are not alone in our experiences, be challenged to have joy among the chaos, remember grace covers guilt, and seek the truth of the gospel above all else. This is a podcast for the imperfect mother—still learning, still growing, and still fully recognizing she doesn’t have it all together —but comes everyday, to the base of the cross, to seek the one who does.

Why I Love It

Risen Motherhood was my gateway podcast. I started listening to it after reading the hosts’ personal blogs, and I fell in love! These ladies are so genuine and encouraging to me as I consider how my Christian faith affects my role as a mother. My favorite podcast by far! Each episode is only about 20 minutes long, so they’re a very manageable length.

Today’s Eden

Description

Today’s Eden is all about inspiring, encouraging, educating and empowering women in this heavy calling called motherhood and marriage. No matter our differences. Because life isn’t so easy in a Facebook world. Let’s stop hiding our struggles and get back to that “it takes a village” mindset. So tell the negative committee inside your head to sit down and shut up, because it won’t survive here. Welcome home!

Why I Love It

I love Today’s Eden because each episode is so different! It’s an interview-style podcast, and Ashley finds a variety of women — from regular moms like you and me to authors, non-profit directors, businesswomen, and more — to share their perspective on life and motherhood. Though some episodes have a Christian-based bent to them, not all do.

The Longest Shortest Time

Description

The parenting show for everyone. Hosted by This American Life contributor and author Hilary Frank.

Why I Love It

The Longest Shortest Time is a fantastic podcast with a huge archive so there’s something for everyone here. Due to host Hilary Frank, it definitely has a NPR/talk radio feel to it so it has a feel that you’ll love or hate. I, personally, love it. If you have kids, know kids, or were a kid, you’ll appreciate this podcast. I think this would be a great listen on a road trip — especially if the littles are engrossed in their own things.

Why I Love It

If you’ve ever read a post from the ladies over at Coffee + Crumbs, you’ll be interested in this one. This podcast is like sitting in your best friend’s living room and chatting it up about motherhood. So cozy, so funny, so challenging (in the very best way!).

I love Birthfull and Well-Adjusted Mama! They are both more on the pregnancy and new motherhood side but are so informative and supportive! Lots of good stuff
