Moms Who Mean Business :: L & E Design Co

In the days leading up to Small Business Saturday, we will be featuring each of our Moms Who Mean Business :: Mompreneur Search winners. We encourage you to check out their businesses, consider shopping locally this holiday season, and—of course—to enter their giveaways! We love Nashville, we love moms, and we think that shopping with local “mompreneurs” is the best way to support local businesses and each other.

Please tell us a little about yourself and your family! What brought you to Nashville and how long have you been here?

My name is Nancy; my husband, Chris, and I have two daughters, Lilliana and Emmalyn. We are in the process of adopting our son, Nathanael. I am a freelance editor and writer, and I love to craft in my free time! I moved to Nashville with my parents when I was 5 years old and have lived here ever since.

What, in your opinion, is the best thing about living in Nashville?
I love that in Nashville and the surrounding areas, it’s easy to get the big city feel or the small hometown feel depending on what mood you are in each day. If you want to dress up, eat a good meal, and see a good show there is always something to do. But if you would rather go out with a few friends and hit up a small-town antique store, that is just as easy to do!
How many kids do you have and what are their names/ages? What’s your favorite thing they are doing right now?
Lilliana is almost 7 and is the most imaginative kid I know. She is a master at games of pretend! Emmalyn is 2 and she is the comedian of the family. She loves to hang her head and “cry” and then as soon as she has your attention will yell out, “Got you!” We are also in the process of adopting a little boy, Nathanael, who is 3. We can’t wait to get him home and learn all about his personality!
Tell us what inspired your business? What do you love about it?
I started my business to help support our adoption. I was inspired by several beautiful songs and Scriptures I love. I wanted to find a creative way to share those words with others, and that launched the jewelry and art print business. I love when someone asks me to create something custom just for them and to see how excited they are when they get to see it in person.
