Shipt Grocery Deliver Nashville NashvilleMomsBlog

Get, ready, Nashville area moms! Your dreams are about to come true.

We know that we weren’t the only ones wishing for grocery delivery around here—especially in light of Harris Teeter closing and the end of the drive-through grocery pick up. With several expectant mamas, and newborns galore (including Shannon’s twins!), stay at home moms,  moms working outside the home, moms with toddlers, moms with very hungry pre-teens and teens . . . well, let’s just say our entire team was pretty ecstatic to hear about Shipt coming to Nashville—each and every one of us. Shipt is everything we were looking for in grocery delivery—and maybe even more.

I had the opportunity to accompany a Shipt team member on a  “ride along” through Publix (the grocery store with which they will begin their shopping and delivery service here in Nashville). I was already intrigued and pretty enthused about the idea of the process. Witnessing it firsthand sold me.

The app used to create your shopping list is super-intuitive and easy to use. The easily maneuverable categories also allow for special requests that may not be listed within the app and special requests when it comes to personal preferences (like how green you might like your bananas). Speaking of produce—which those of us who love food know is a pretty personal shopping choice—Shipt’s pilots (as their shoppers are called) are put through extensive training on picking produce well and are encouraged to shop as though shopping for themselves. (No bruised apples! Keep those eggs and bread separate when you pack the car, etc.)

Choosing Produce Shipt

The shopper moves through the store pulling together your order and compiling a list of any items that are unavailable. At the end of the list, you will receive a text from your shopping inquiring about replacements or substitutions as well as asking any other clarifying questions to ensure that your list is fulfilled as closely to your being there as possible (without your having to actually BE there)!

When you place your order, you can choose your time of delivery and the location for your delivery (home, the office, a friend’s house…as long as it’s within the delivery zone, Shipt will make it happen), and you can choose a delivery window as soon as the next hour from when you place the order. THAT is service! The only requirement is that someone be there to meet the delivery person. Oh, and you can even request that your shopper text you when they’re on their way. You can warn them not to ring the doorbell (hello, sleeping baby!) or whatever other instructions might seem pertinent. And if you’re like me, you usually remember about half-way home that you forgot something that you needed. With Shipt, if you happen to remember something half-way through your shopper’s grocery store trip, they’ve thought of that—you can edit the list while your shop is in process. Trust me—this is something I definitely asked. If you have more questions, they have a handy FAQ page (bottom of the page) that can help inform you even further.

Shipt kicks off service in Nashville in mid-July and will begin with Publix (and plans to expand their shopping options in the near future). You can shop the Publix sale paper and BOGO offers, but Shipt doesn’t work with coupons. Their delivery area can be found here (scroll down on the page), and the best news? They’re presently offering a limited number half-price MemberShipts at $49 for the year! The MemberShipt allows unlimited (YES, UNLIMITED!) free delivery of any order of $35 or more for a year.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with Shipt to give away MemberShipts to TWO of our Nashville Moms Blog readers. (Any winner who has already joined, or choose to join before winners are announced will be reimbursed for their purchase—we don’t blame you! Make the most of that discounted MemberShipt option!) 1. I’m looking forward to trying Shipt because it’ll save me lots of time on days when I’m running from one scheduled event/obligation to another! I can breathe a little easier knowing the grocery shopping is taken care of!

  2. This would be amazing to have in our area because it would make it easier to get a lot of other tasks done; that will allow us to use our time focusing on other priorities within our home. It is hard to get around and this would make it simpler.

  3. Such an exciting service! This would be great for us because at 13 months, our daughter still hates car rides, and now that she’s walking, she doesn’t want to be buckled into the shopping cart at the store anymore, and chasing her and shopping is a disaster! What a fantastic idea!!! Can’t wait to try it!!!

  4. What a great service! It’s nice for Nashville to have a premium service that’s still accessible to everyday (normal) moms. 🙂

  5. Is this service available in Fairview, TN 37062? I am in need of upcoming surgeries and this service would be a Godsend.

  6. I’m very excited to have Shipt coming to our area. I’m disabled and having someone shop for me is going to be such a blessing!

    Thanks!
